    What are the steps for replacing the throttle body on 1997 Mazda Protege? Posted by Customer

    1. Detach the cable from the negative battery terminal. 2. Loosen hose clamps to remove the air intake duct. 3. Detach the accelerator cable from the throttle lever. 4. If equipped with an automatic transmission, detach the throttle valve cable and cable bracket. 5. Label and detach all vacuum and coolant hoses. 6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the throttle position sensor. 7. Remove the four throttle body mounting bolts. 8. Detach the throttle body and gasket from the intake manifold. 9. Clean the throttle body casting thoroughly with a soft brush and carburetor cleaner, ensuring not to clean the throttle position sensor with anything other than a soft cloth.
