    Q:
How do you test the EGA system for 1990 Mazda 323? Posted by Customer
    A:
For models through 1996, start the engine and allow it to idle. Then, detach the vacuum hose from the EGA valve and attach a handheld vacuum pump. The vacuum should remain steady while the engine runs rough. Apply vacuum to the EGA valve, which should also remain steady while the engine runs poorly. If the vacuum does not remain steady and the engine does not run poorly, replace the EGR valve and recheck. If the vacuum remains steady but the engine does not run poorly, remove the EGR valve and check for blockage in the valve and intake manifold, cleaning or replacing parts as necessary. You can Select Your Vehicle to see complete installation and repair tips.

    Q:
What should be done if the voltage readings are not as specified on 1993 Mazda Protege? Posted by Customer
    A:
If the voltage readings are not as specified, inspect the harness and connector between the EGR valve and the PCM terminal. If they are okay, replace the EGR valve. You can Select Your Vehicle to see complete installation and repair tips.
