- Q: How to properly remove and install a driveshaft on 1988 Mazda RX-7?A: Lift the car and rest on jack stands or ramps, chocking the wheels at the front. Before removal, mark all surfaces on which mating occurs at the back of the driveshaft. Disassemble the bolts that fasten the driveshaft, slide it backwards and detach it. To install, repeat the steps in reverse making sure that everything is aligned.
