1998 Mazda Millenia Instrument Cluster Parts and Q&A
Q: How to remove and install the instrument cluster on 1998 Mazda Millenia?
A: The instrument cluster on the MX-3,323 and Protege models is not hard to remove and install; the negative battery cable has to first be disconnected, after which the steering wheel and the two column cover screws can be removed to remove the cover. Then, take out the meter hood system and the screws of the instrument cluster. With caution, take out the cluster module, loosen the connections of the electrical connections and the speedometer connectors, and then take out the instrument cluster. With the 626 models, the MX6 models and the Millenia models, begin by unscrewing the negative battery cable, then remove the steering column shrouds and instrument cluster cover. Should there be a necessity, lower the steering column, or remove the steering wheel, and then remove the meter hood assembly, possibly removing the panel light control switch and a hole cover to unscrew the retaining screws. Once the instrument cluster has been removed, with the retaining screws removed, pull the cluster module outwards, unscrew the electrical connectors and the speedometer cable connector should it be present then remove the instrument cluster. Both models are installed in the same way as they are removed and all gauges are checked as operational.
