Mazda 5 PCV Valve

The Mazda 5 PCV Valve expels unburned crankcase gases rapidly into the intake stream, reducing pollution and protecting engine oil so that the small minivan engine remains smooth and powerful. The small spring-loaded check piece is fitted inside each Mazda engine bay and is opposite the breather port, where a tight seal is formed when there is no throttle application, and a loose seal is created when throttle is fully closed and the engine needs to remove extra blow-by, and in conjunction with the balance of the air-fuel mixture this keeps the interior seals from swelling and leaking in the engine bay. The valve has a second use, as flashback flames or turbo pulses cannot push air into the crankcase due to the safety feature, which helps to keep gaskets clean and eliminate the unpleasant oil spray. Subsequent models added an internal oil separator which skims off mist before the fumes get back to the intake, reducing the amount of sludge deposited and releasing a touch of extra power on long drives. The component bolts in with no special tools, whether it is on an early Mazda 5 of the first production wave or on the last models of the U.S. market, and does the same reliable job. Drivers note less wavering idle, higher mileage, and reduced foul odors with the addition of a new PCV Valve, evidence of its actual effect on real-world performance. The component fits all three 5 generations available in international showrooms, and thus the owners can replace it without fearing that dimensions and flow rates are not going to be as factory intended. The PCV Valve has rugged spring steel and heat-resistant housing that allows it to cycle thousands of times per minute without tiring, which adds to the larger perception that Mazda powertrains have been known to last much longer than initially expected.
