Begin by removing the front grille cover. If the same hood lock mechanism is to be reinstalled, scribe or paint around the outside edge of the mechanism for quick and easy alignment. Next, remove the retaining nuts and bolt, disengage the release cable, and take out the lock mechanism from the vehicle. In the passenger compartment, loosen the release cable nut and detach the cable from the bracket. Attach string or thin wire to the end of the cable and pull it through into the passenger compartment for removal. For installation, follow the reverse process after connecting the string or wire to the new release cable and pulling it into position.
