In order to take the hood off and install it, one must first open it and draw a line along the body hinges. Using some help, hold the hood and pull the cotter pin out of the right side of hood stop retaining pin, the retaining pin, and hood stop. Pull the hood up and push the torsion bar aside and then loosen the hinge to body bolts and remove the hood. To be installed, do the reverse of them, taking care to position the outlines so that they all fit, and to be certain that the hood closes well, making necessary corrections. In models with a hood prop, mark the location of the hinge, hold the hood, and loosen the hinge to hood bolts to get the hinge off. The process of reinstallation is a reverse procedure in which the installed part fits appropriately and closes when it is fixed correctly. Self supporting hoods are configured by loosening the hinge-to-hinge or hinge-to-body bolts to allow front-to-rear or side-to-side adjustment, and the height of the front edge can be adjusted by adding or removing shims under the hinges and the rear edge can be changed by raising or lowering the rear hood bumpers. When hoods have a lockplate that is supported, they are simply loosened using the lockplate bolts and the lockplate is shifted accordingly.
