To take out and install the water pump on different engine sizes, you should be able to drain the cooling system and it will be necessary to have a container that is sealable in order to ensure the pets do not get access to the ethylene glycol antifreeze which is lethal. In 1,586cc, 1,796cc and 1,970cc engines, desilicate water pump by removing bottom hose, disconnecting upper and bottom
Radiator hose, in addition to removing radiator, drive belts, fan and pulley before unbolting water pump. Wipe the gasket faces, and in turn replace the pump and gasket and assemble the hoses, radiator and refill the cooling system. To remove the water pump of 1,998cc engine, it is necessary to disconnect the battery ground, drain the cooling system, and take off the components as distributor, fan shroud, alternator, and other belts, then take off the water pump. Install new gasket and o-ring and make sure timing marks are aligned correctly in the re-assembling. With the 2,184cc engine, a special tool is used to ensure that the crankshaft does not rotate and that the cooling system is emptied and the belts and covers are removed first before removing the water pump. Wipe the surfaces and fit the new pump with a new gasket making sure that time marks are in line. To do on the 2,555cc, drain the cooling system, disconnect the hoses and the drive pulley shield, pull out the water pump and fit it with a new gasket. In the case of the 2,606cc engine, one should disconnect the battery, drain the cooling system, and unconnect the belts and fan and then unbolt the water pump. Wipe down surfaces, change the gasket and reassemble. In the case of the 2,209cc diesel engine, one has to drain the cooling system, take off the fan shroud and pump, and put in a new gasket when reassembling. Upon installation of all engines, refill cooling system and look at any leaks.
