Mazda Miata MAP Sensor

The Mazda Miata MAP Sensor accurately indicates the pressure in the intake manifold to the ECU to maintain the fuel and spark timing in perfect balance for quick throttle response. With pressure information instead of a bulky airflow meter, the MAP Sensor allows the agile roadster to accelerate quicker, run cleaner, and lose unnecessary weight. Its bare three-wire design in early cars and the subsequent combo unit which also monitors air temperature have in common a rugged solid core that scoffs at vibration, heat, dusty rough roads, and high mileage. All Mazda with gasoline engines starting with NA up to NB, NC, and the recent ND use the same rudimentary device in the vicinity of the throttle body, thus enabling their owners to swap a worn MAP Sensor without any special tools and without complex calibration. After installation, it supplies real-time pressure to the computer that in turn modulates injector pulse width and ignition timing in real time, protecting catalysts, increasing fuel efficiency, supporting the OBD-II mandated self-check of EGR, and operating all year long, rain or shine. Should the readings become erratic, a warning light and limp-home mode come into effect instantly, a safety measure in-built that ensures that the Miata does not encounter the lean mixtures that destroy engines. The unit is also immune to false signals of sudden vacuum spikes, a vice that may afflict lesser sensors, making any Mazda's power fluid regardless of whether it is in a traffic jam or is going through the roof. This unobtrusive, low-priced, and designed to fit the famous two-seat convertible little hero is an underdog within Mazda, yet its combination of reliability and precision keeps the Miata legend on the road, mile after mile.
