In order to install an antenna on top of the pillar, first, remove the kick panel and disassemble the antenna feeder off the retention clips. Then loosen the screws on the base of the antenna and remove the antenna and feeder set including the sunroof drain pipe in a car with the sunroof drain pipe. To install, put the antenna feeder and drain pipe to the front pillar opening, screw the feeder wire to the mounting clips and screw the antenna base in place. To perform the power related task, unscrew the front side trim, undercover, and hood release knob and then unhook the negative battery cable. Find and disconnect the central processing unit to the joint box in the driverside wheel well unplug the harness connectors and remove the joint box. Unplug the steering column under the steering column the antenna feeder connector and the antenna motor connector, and unscrew the motor mounting bracket and the antenna motor with the mast. A 12-volt battery can be connected to the motor service connector when the motor is to be operated, and all the cable must be fed out of the motor even when the mast is broken. After removing the base mounting screws, withdraw the antenna off the front pillar. Each new mast kit has a protective covering which must be fully extended before it can be used. Attach the plastic shield to the mast base and tape the antenna plug to the protector tube and then place the antenna mast through the roof opening, make it go down at the same angle as the windshield pillar. After complete insertion, take out the plastic tube and tug the antenna lead into the inside of the passenger compartment and secure the plastic rack cable into the motor housing with the serrated side towards the motor. Make battery leads connected to the antenna motor service connector and turn the motor on until the new cable is reeled up, and by pressing the base of the mast into the motor housing joint, ensure the lock by bending the mast base. Test the operation of the antenna mast and trim the cable slack where necessary and then complete the installation by reversing the steps. With fender mounted antenna, unplug the negative battery wire, make the trunk panel or wheelhouse liner, and finally cut off the antenna wire which might involve having to run the wire through the car. Take the mounting nut off the top of the antenna and may require a special tool to get it off in case it is recessed and remove the screws that hold the antenna in place. The reverse of the process of removal is followed by installation.
