In order to remove and fit the transaxle assembly, the first thing to do is to disconnect the negative battery cable. The second step is to lift and stabilize the vehicle. Go ahead and remove the transaxle assembly. Removing the clutch assembly, followed by the flywheel, unscrewing the flywheel-crankshaft bolts, is only necessary with a vehicle that has a manual transaxle. In the case of an automatic transaxle, the flexplate is removed by unscrewing the flexplate-to-crankshaft bolts, the flexplate and flexplate shims (where applicable). Installation is done in reverse order of removal, so that the flywheel or flexplate bolts are fitted to the required torque.
