- Q: How to disconnect and reinstall the A/C Switch control assembly on Mazda MX-6?A:Disconnect the battery negative cable, then pry off the air conditioner switch and the swing louver assembly to access the control assembly retaining screws. Remove the retaining screws and take out the control assembly from the instrument panel, unplugging the electrical connector from the control unit and disconnecting the control wires. Installation is the reverse of removal, with specific attention to the connection and adjustment of the control wires. For the mode wire, set the control knob to Defrost and push the mode lever forward before connecting the wire and installing the clamp. After connecting the battery cable, turn the blower switch on and ensure there are no air leaks from the center and floor area outlets. For the temperature control wire, set the knob to Cold and push the heat/cool selection lever to the Cold position, then clamp it. The selection lever should move fully from Cold to Hot. For the recirculated/fresh air selection wire, pull the mode control knob outward, connect the wire with it pulled to the Rec position, and install the clamp. Finally, check for proper operation by pulling the control knob in and out several times.
