To test the inhibitor switch for correct operation, the engine should start in the Park and Neutral positions of the shifter only. After that, follow the wire from the switch to the connector and remove it. Use an ohmmeter to check for continuity at the switch connector terminals in Park, Reverse and Neutral. Ensure continuity for the following positions: A and B terminals in Park, C and D terminals in Reverse, and A and B terminals in Neutral. This should be done when the ignition is on and shifter in specified positions. To replace the switch, unplug the connector and remove two screws securing the switch to the transaxle. Then, installation is a reversal.
