- Q: How to access and replace the license plate lights on Mazda RX-7?A:The access to the illumination lamps covering the license plate is via the luggage compartment. Unscrew the two nuts that hold the illumination brackets to the rear panel and lift up the carpet and then disconnect the bullet wiring connector. Take out the lamp assembly of the rear body panel, unscrew the plastic inserts of the lamp assembly off the studs and remove the metal shield off the lamp assembly studs. Removal Push the bulb inwards and turn it counterclockwise to take it out, be sure to take out the plastic inserts and the metal shield before doing so. To replace a bulb, insert the bulb and turn it clockwise, after which you have to insert the metal shield and plastic inserts on the studs. Lastly, screw on the lamp housing, screw the securing nuts, wiring, and test to confirm that it works by switching on the Headlights.
