The drivebelt is found at the front of the engine, which is very important in the engine operation, with V6 models having another service belt on the water pump. It is worn out and as such, should be checked occasionally as it operates such components as the alternator, power steering pump, water pump, and air conditioning compressor. Two belts are fitted in the 2013 and then 2.0L and 2.5L engines, with the outer belt driving the air conditioning compressor and the inner belt driving the alternative and water pump. Reaching the drivebelt might be enhanced by lifting the vehicle and lifting the right front wheel and lower splash shield. When the engine is turned off, examine the belt in terms of cracks, fraying, and glazing, and inspect the pulleys in terms of damages. Ribbed belts may have small cracks which are acceptable except when they are extensive. In order to replace the drivebelt, loosen right front wheel lug nuts, lift the vehicle and remove wheel and splash shield. Record how the routing of the belt is, and release tension with the wrench. Install the new belt, making sure that it properly fits in the pulley grooves, and reassemble the parts. To replace water pump drivebelt, different models have a minor difference in the process with unique design of the 2005 and later models that have no mechanical tensioner. Installation of new belt is also a sensitive process and it might involve rotating of the engine to correctly place the belt. To replace the tensioner, one has to first remove the drivebelt and then the tensioner bolts and then it is reversed, that is, the bolts which have been removed should be screwed back in place with all of them being snapped to the required torque.
