- Q: How to remove and install the thermostat for rotary engine on 1984 Mazda GLC?A: Position a pan and drain the cooling system; on carb engines remove air cleaner, then disconnect hoses and unbolt the thermostat housing. Remove thermostat and gasket, scrape mating surfaces. Install new gasket and thermostat with jiggle pin up, secure cover, reconnect hoses and thermoswitch, refill coolant and check for leaks.
