1985 Mazda GLC Brake Disc Parts and Q&A
Q: How to remove and install the rear Brake Disc on 1985 Mazda GLC?
A: In order to remove and install the disc, one should first place the car on stands and remove the rear wheels. Measure the lateral run-out of the disc with a dial indicator to ensure that it conforms to the limits. The next step is to loosen the bolts of the caliper bracket and loosen the caliper and the bracket in one, attaching it to the rear spring or strut. Put the parking brake all the way out, then remove the disc attaching screws, and insert into the tapped holes at about 90 to the normal position and tighten evenly to loosen the disc off the axle shaft flange. Clean the screws after which the new disc is installed by matching the identification marks in the flange of the axle shaft and the disc before putting in the mounting screws. When a new disc is being used, check it in all the four possible positions, and observe the lateral run-out with a dial indicator and then fit the disc in the position which minimizes run-out and mark the disc and the axle flange accordingly.
