1986 Mazda B2000 Shock Absorber Parts and Q&A
Q: How to assess the performance of your shock absorbers and manage their removal and installation for 4-WD Front Suspension on 1986 Mazda B2000?
A: To test the efficiency of your shocks, take one corner of the truck and bump it on the ground up and down as much as you can and then release it, it should not be able to bump more than two full bounces. Removal and installation of the shocks To remove and install the shocks, the front part must be first raised and supported on jackstands. It can be followed by removing the upper end nut, bushings, and washers of the shock stem and then the lower end which has attaching bolts. Cleanse the shock out of the bottom of the control arm. Installation To be installed, follow the reverse procedure, but be sure to tighten the lower bolts to 55-59 ft. lbs and the upper nut at 17-25 ft. lbs., with a 7mm (0.276 in.) of thread showing above the nut.
