To test the functioning of your shocks, bounce one end of the truck up and down as much as possible and then releases it, it must stop in one or two consecutive bounces. In order to fit and take out the shocks, raise the front end and place it in jackstands. The second one is to remove the upper end nut, bushings, and washers of the shock stem then the lower end attaching bolts. Take the shock out of under the lower
Control Arm. To install, follow the steps in reverse with the 1972-84 trucks requiring a tightening of the lower bolts to 25 ft. lbs. and the 1986-89 trucks requiring a tightening of 55-59 ft. lbs. The upper nut must be screwed in until 6mm above the locknut with the Rotary Pick-Up, B1800, and 1979-84 B2000, or 3mm with the B1600. In cases of 1986-89 trucks, tighten the upper nut to 17-25 ft. lbs. with 7mm above the nut.
