1989 Mazda 929 Sway Bar Parts and Q&A
Q: How to remove and install the rear sway bar on 1989 Mazda 929?
A: In order to install and remove the stabilizer bar, the rear end must be elevated and jackstands used to support it. The second step is to take out the bolts, bushings, retainers, and spacers that hold the stabilizer bar on the lateral links. Next, remove and extract the retaining bushings and brackets, then the removal of the stabilizer bar. Check everything to ensure it is not worn or damaged, change any parts that look suspicious. To install, undo the process in a reverse manner, so that all of the fasteners have been hand-tightened. After lowering the vehicle to the ground, screw the retaining bushing bracket fasteners to 38 ft. lbs. (51 Nm) and be sure that the lateral link bolts are tightened until 0.59 inches (15mm) of thread stick out above the nut.
