  A: To test the rear wheel speed sensor, remove it out of the axle housing and connect Digital Volt/Ohm Meter (DVOM) across the two sensor terminals, and note down the value, which must fall within the range of 0.9 to 2.5k Ohms; otherwise the sensor has to be changed. To remove, pull the wiring out of the harness, disconnect the sensor hold-down bolt and then pull the sensor of the axle. To install the mounting surfaces must be clean and free of dirt, allowing no dirt to enter the axle and the magnetized sensor pole piece should be clean as metal particles might cause problems, the 0-ring should be replaced and the new one coated with clean engine oil. Install the new sensor on the axle making sure that it slides in without any difficulties but a gap of 0.005- 0.045 inch is taken in order to fit the sensor appropriately. Lastly, tighten the hold-down bolt to 25-30 ft. lbs. (34- 41Nm) and reattach the wiring.
