1991 Mazda MX-6 Shock Absorber Parts and Q&A
Q: How to remove and inspect the rear shock absorber on 1991 Mazda MX-6?
A: The rear panel is removed in the back seat of the car. In models that have three-way damping control, take out the adjuster switch. Then remove two upper strut-to-chassis stud nuts. Siphon the back of the car and stabilize it using jackstands. Take off the strut in the operation of disconnecting the brake hose. Next, unscrew the two strut-to-steering knuckle nuts and bolts to be able to take the strut assembly out of the car. Check the strut on leakage of oil, tears or break in the dust boot, rust or breakage in the spring. Additional tasks to deconstruct the strut assembly are the use of a spring compressor and special methods, which are not given to an amateur. Installation is the opposite of removing and all the fasteners must be tightened to the required tightness.
