How to adjust the rear brakes before adjusting the parking brake cable on 1997 Mazda MPV?

Pull the rear brakes in front of the parking cable. The parking brake lever is supposed to engage the system in a couple of clicks, otherwise, adjust it. Switch on the engine, reverse and press the brake pedal. Unscrew the cover and the adjusting nut clip, and then use the nut. Check the warning light and watch out rear brake drag.
