Take off the parking brake lever adjusting nut and release the parking brake. Take away the floormats and rear seat. Stuff the wheels, lift the car and place it safely on jackstands. Take out the rear brake shoes and remove the parking brake lever(s). Under-vehicle This work is performed in reverse sequence, by removing the parking brake cable(s) by disconnection, removing the parking brake cable bracket off the lower suspension arm, removing the retaining clip off the parking brake cable at the backing plate, removing the brake shoes, and removing the cable off the parking brake lever. Under the hood of the car, remove the cable that was attached to the lever of the parking brake. Removal is the opposite of installation. Installation of a new cable or cables will require you to readjust the parking brake lever stroke and that you depress the brake pedal a few times and ensure that the rear brakes do not drag as you turn up the wheels.
