  A: The master cylinder must be removed and installed by first disconnecting the negative battery cable and the fluid level sensor connector. Then pull out the brake lines off the master cylinder wrapping them up with a rag and stuffing to avoid drainage. Unscrew the two nuts that hold the master cylinder fixed to the brake booster and the proportioning bypass valve and the bracket. Removal of the master cylinder (with the removal of the O-ring provided the vehicle is fitted with ABS).
