How to remove and inspect the PCV valve in a crankcase ventilation system on 1998 Mazda Millenia?

Crankcase ventilation is placed in the valve cover in a grommet that houses the PCV valve. In order to take it out, pull the valve out of the grommet and take off the vacuum hose. Check deposits; when it rattles it is working. wipe or clean, and inspect the hose and grommet. Installation (by connecting the hose and valve) again.
