The crankcase ventilation system is tested by having the PCV valve located in a grommet on the valve cover. Removal of the PCV valve To remove the PCV valve, first disconnect the vacuum hose on the valve, then pull off the PCV valve on the valve cover grommet. The first step involves disconnection of the hose followed by removal of the PCV valve of the grommet and the hose out of the vehicle. Check the PCV valve to make sure that it is not deposited and clogged; its rattling in response to shaking means that it is working well. When it does not rattle, clean it with solvent until the plunger slides freely, or change it. Also, inspect the PCV hose and the valve cover grommet due to presence of any clogging, wear, or deterioration and change them when required. To install it, take the PCV hose and attach it to the valve and then attach the valve back into the grommet.
