How to remove and install the rear axle shaft on 1998 Mazda MPV?

To be able to take the rear axle assembly off, one has to detach the negative battery terminal, block the front wheels and get the vehicle up on jackstands. Unconnect the driveshaft, parking brake cables and ABS connector. Unscrew the brake hose, drop the axle assembly, and take out the springs. To install it, the procedure is similar in reverse and secure all connections.
