  • Q: How can the crankshaft seal be installed to prevent oil leaks on 2001 Mazda Protege?
    A: First install the crankshaft and afterward join the main bearing caps. Inspect the crankshaft on the appearance of scratches that may destroy the newly installed seal. A hammer and punch are used to remove the old seal making sure that the retainer remains clean. Oil the new seal and press it into the block then bolt it in.
