How to remove and install an axle shaft on 2002 Mazda Protege?

Removing the axle shaft You have to disconnect the battery cable, put on parking brake and loosen wheel lug nuts. Lift up the vehicle, take off the wheels and the axle shaft hub lock nut. Loosen the axle shaft by tapping it and remove parts that may be required to take the axle shaft off. To install, do everything in reverse, with good lubrication and assemble the parts.
