How to remove and install a water pump on 2002 Mazda Protege?

In order to pull out the water pump, loosen the negative battery cable and empty the cooling system. Take out the water pump drive belt, pulley, timing belt cover and timing belt. Disconnect the water inlet and exhaust manifold heat shield. Wipe surfaces, analyse the new pump and new with the old and reseal. Fill up cooling system and check leakages.
