Eliminate the crankshaft pulley. Carefully open the seal with a screwdriver or hook tool without damaging the timing chain cover bore and nose and sealing surface of the crankshaft. Or, one can make a little hole on each side of the seal and attach a self-tapping screw in each of the holes to pull the seal out, but not pry. Wipe the sealing surfaces in engine cover and the crankshaft, then clean and coat them with clean engine oil. Install the new seal by pressing into the timing chain cover. When commenced, a seal driver or an appropriate socket of the appropriate size should be used to push the seal firmly in place in a straight manner so that it fits squarely into place when installed on the engine cover and it is also square. Apply clean engine oil to the side of the seal where it reaches the crankshaft. Lastly, install crankshaft pulley.
