Take out the fuel tank filler cap to release the pressure in the fuel tank and then release the pressure in the fuel system. Unplug the cable of the negative battery terminal and take out the rear seat cushion. The second step is to take off the screws at the fuel pump access cover and the electrical connector at the fuel pump module. Lift the back of the car and hold it in jackstands. Unscrew the hose clamps and unuse the fuel filler neck hose and the EVAP system breather hose to the tank. Disconnect the exhaust pipe and the fuel tank heat shield. Tie down the fuel tank, and then loosen the straps of the fuel tank and remove the fuel tank retaining strap bolts, loosen the straps and then lower the fuel tank very carefully. The opposite of removal is installation which makes sure that the fuel tank strap bolts are tightened. Reconnect the cable to the negative battery terminal and start the engine and look at the fuel leaks.
