Unfasten lug nuts, lift the car and rest on jackstands and then take out the wheel. Then take out the tie-rod end and jam nut. Next remove the rack and pinion boot clamps and slide the boot off. Prior to attaching the new boot, wrap the threads and serrations of the end of the steering rod with some tape to stop the little end of the new boot from being damaged in the process of fitting. Install the rack and pinion with a new inner clamp and insert the new boot on the rack and pinion until it fits in the groove of the steering rod and install and clamp tightly. Take out the tape and replace the tie-rod end jam nut and tie-rod end. Lastly, fit the wheel and lug nuts, lower the vehicle and screw lug nuts to the required tightness.
