Mazda 6 Blower Motor Resistor

Mazda 6 Blower Motor Resistor is a not very large yet very important part that allows drivers to adjust the speed of the fans and provide cool or warm air to the car interiors so that the sedan can be comfortable all year round. For Mazda drivers it operates by adding known electrical resistance to the heating air conditioning circuit, where less resistance allows more current to pass the blower motor to increase rotation and more resistance reduces the speed of the current and the fan. One small unit provides a complete airflow range without the complexity of moving parts. The fundamental concept of the design in all Mazda 6 models is based on a resistor pack that is wired into the blower control switch, and when the switch is adjusted to each speed the circuit is directed to flow through a designated coil in the resistor pack to set the circuit to a certain value of resistance. Since the whole job is done electrically, the device responds immediately to the input of the driver and keeps interior temperature variations smooth and predictable. The subsequent model years retained the same principle since they had already struck a balance between simplicity and reliable performance, i.e. its owners are likely to experience similar operational performance between generations. Normal cabin climate control therefore requires a healthy Blower Motor Resistor, and replacement by a new genuine Mazda part immediately reinstates normal operation of the fans. Any well-charged air conditioning system will not be able to pass enough air to clear foggy windows or cool passengers without a responsive Blower Motor Resistor.

Mazda 6 Blower Motor Resistor Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and install the blower motor resistor and blower motor on Mazda 6?
    A:
Detach the lower trim panel directly under the glove compartment. For 2008 and earlier models, remove the glove box. Separate the electrical connector from the resistor of the air conditioning system fan motor resistor. Remove screws mounting blower motor resistor and extract it from evaporator housing. The installation is similar to that of a reverse movement. On 2009 and later versions, disconnect power supply plug from blower motor resistor. In models with manual air conditioners, depress tab that is placed on top of resistance , slide it rightwards and take it off evaporator's case. On models fitted with automatic climate control systems, depress tab positioned on top of transistor, slide this element to right and extract it from evaporator housing. The installation process is carried out in a way similar to disassembly. Remove lower trim panel below glovebox area .Unplug blower motor electric connector. Take off blower motor screws for removal of blower motor assembly.
