To remove and install the Fuel Rail and Fuel injectors, start by relieving the fuel system pressure and disconnecting the cable from the negative terminal of the starting battery. For 4-cylinder models, first disconnect the fuel supply line quickconnect fitting from the Fuel Rail followed by the 2 wiring harness retainers as well as the Fuel Rail Insulator, and then disconnect all electrical connectors that share the same wiring harness, before then disconnecting the 4 fuel injector connectors from each injector. You can then use a trim removal tool to disengage the wiring harness retainers so that you can then push the harness aside. Remove the fuel rail mounting fasteners and pull out both fuel rails as an assembly with their injectors. Using needle-nose pliers, remove each injector's retaining clip and separate it from its bore in the fuel rail, then take off and discard both of the old O-rings. Coat new O-rings with clean engine oil and install them on the injectors. Insert each injector into its bore in the fuel rail, install isolators if equipped, and reinsert the fuel rail into the intake manifold, and be sure to secure all fuel rail mounting fasteners tightly. To complete installation, reconnect the battery cable to the negative terminal, turn the ignition switch to the ON position to prime the
Fuel Pump and start building pressure, checking for leaks afterward. You should repeat this process 2-3 times to confirm there are no leaks. For V6 models, start by removing the upper intake manifold from the engine and then disconnecting the fuel supply line at the rail, and the electrical connectors from each injector. Detach the 3 pin-type harness retainers from the fuel rail so you can push the wiring harness aside. For 3.0L models, remove the 8 bolts fastening the lower intake manifolds to the cylinder heads, and then remove the lower intake manifolds fuel rails, and injectors as a single assembly. On 3.7L models, you can simply remove the 4 fuel rail mounting bolts and pull the fuel rail and injectors in a single unit. Release the retaining clips securing each injector and them one by one, discarding the old O-rings. Install new O-rings, lubricating them with clean engine oil before insertion, and then replace each injector back into its bore in the fuel rail and secure with the retaining clips. For 3.0L models, replace all intake manifold gaskets, reattach them to the fuel rail, and reinstall the the assemblies in the engine, making sure to tighten all bolts in the correct sequence and torque. Reconnect the negative battery terminal, turn the ignition switch to ON to build fuel pressure, and check for fuel leaks.
