Mazda 626 Headlight

The Mazda 626 Headlight allows drivers to see the road well even in the dark and makes the car visible to people in the vicinity. The contemporary versions of the Headlight are composite and built into the bodywork, enhancing appearance and reducing wind resistance, and commonly contain turn signal and parking bulbs in the same case. Throughout the manufacturing cycle, Mazda has applied three sources of light which are well known by the majority of motorists, the halogen, LED, and xenon HID, which achieve the common safety target in some manner or another. The halogen arrangements combine tungsten filaments and halogen gas, which are inexpensive sources of brightness but have shorter lifespans. LED arrays are more expensive at the front but will consume less power and be able to glow over an extended period. Xenon systems do away with a glowing wire and form an arc within the xenon gas, which produces a high intensity of white or bluish light that is comparable to daylight. All Mazda Headlight models come in high and low beams irrespective of the source as drivers can adjust to the traffic and weather conditions. One of the major maintenance issues is the transparent plastic lens, which may get fogged through the years as the sun, grit, and chemicals scratch and discolour the surface and decrease the amount of light generated until a polish or replacement is performed. Knowing the strength of each of the technologies, the owners of the 626 can choose the Mazda setup that optimally suits their driving style and their budget without jeopardizing their safety at night.

Mazda 626 Headlight Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the headlights on Mazda 626?
    A:
Disassemble the radiator grille assembly (when present) and the radiator grille cover. Discard the negative battery cable. With sealed beam-type headlights, the headlight bezel and combination light assembly are removed, followed by the four screws that hold the retaining ring, and a removal of the ring taking care of the sealed beam unit. Take out the connector and unplug it off the vehicle. Install the retaining ring and mounting screws by placing the new unit in proximity to the wires so that they can be connected. Lastly, fit the bezel and ensure that it works; as long as the adjusting screws were not adjusted, then the headlight should not need any adjustments. In the case of bulb-type headlights, remove the light assembly at the front side then remove the bulb by removing the light assembly cover, removing the spring and removing the bulb. This is the opposite of de-installation and in the case of the halogen bulb, one should not touch the bulb with bare fingers as the oil will damage it; the bulb can be cleaned with rubbing alcohol in the event of the contact.
  • Q: Is correctly aiming the headlights crucial to avoid blinding oncoming drivers and ensure optimal visibility on the road on Mazda 626?
    A:
The proper alignment of the headlights is very important to prevent blinding effect oncoming drivers and to achieve maximum road visibility. The headlights are set to be turned on vertically and horizontally with the help of two spring-loaded screws one at the top and the other at the side. In order to align the headlights, pull up the car in a flat area 10 feet (3 meters) away to a light-colored wall or screen. Mark using masking tape two vertical lines that represent the center line of the vehicle and the center lines of the Headlights; four lines center of the Headlights on the vehicle. Further, put a straight horizontal piece of tape on the middle of all headlights which would be easier when the vehicle is parked just a few inches away. During adjustment ensure that the car is even, the tank is half full and that there is someone in the driver seat. To turn the high-intensity zone below the horizontal line and two inches on the right of the headlight vertical line, adjust the screws. In the case of the high beams, the high-intensity zone is to be positioned vertically in the middle with the exact center two-inch under the horizontal line. Perfect alignment of low and high beams may not be possible and therefore the focus should be made on low beams, because they are more in use and they affect the safety of the driver much.
