To change and fit the pitman arm, you have to raise and hold the front end using jackstands. Then loosen the cotter pin and nut which hold the
Center Link to the pitman arm, and then use a ball joint separator to detach the center link to the pitman arm. Align the pitman arm and the sector shaft and then remove the nut of the arm-to-sector shaft and remove the pitman arm but this might need a puller. Installation Reinstall the matchmarks taking the reverse order. Tighten pitman arm-to-sector shaft nut to 130 ft.lbs and pitman arm-to-center link nut to 43 ft.lbs 1972-86 trucks or 32ft.lbs 1987-89 trucks. When the cotter pin is misaligned, make sure to tighten the nut and not loosen the nut.
