Mazda B2200 Air Filter Box Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to replace the air filter box on Mazda B2200?
    A:
The replacement of the air cleaner element is an easy maintenance job, although one should be careful to avoid dust and dirt entering the air cleaner enclosure which may add to the engines wear. When the house is dirty, then clean it using a rag prior to the start. In case of pickups with carburet, loosen the top cover and air cleaner element, unscrew the retaining clips and wing nut and then remove the top cover. During the installation of the new element, make sure that it fits tightly on the back of the housing with the bulge as well as reconnect the top cover and then use the wing nut and clips to secure this. In the case of fuel-injected pickups and MPVs, loosen the five retaining bolts on the housing cover, support it in position and then loosen the clamp on the air intake hose, and un-hook the airflow sensor connector. Unscrew and take off the housing, making notes of the orientation on which the new element is to be installed, and then reassemble everything, once it is to be installed. In the case of the Navajo, it is necessary to loosen the clamps of the hose assembly, unscrew the screws that hold the air cleaner to the bracket, disconnect the hose and inlet tube, and remove the air cleaner cover to replace the filter and tubes. Lastly, install the new element, place the cover and screw it in and not too tight with a torque of 12-15 inch lbs being sufficient.
