Mazda B2200 Fuel Tank Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to remove and install the fuel tank on Mazda B2200?
    A:
In order to take out the tank of a pickup, it is important to release the pressure in the fuel system and unattach the negative battery cable and take the fuel filter cap off and safely prop the vehicle. Place a container beneath the fuel tank, take out the drain plug and empty out the tank. Disassemble electrical connector to the sending unit or sending unit/Fuel Pump assembly, the fuel filler hose, evaporative hose, breather hose and fuel lines. Lift the tank with the help of a jack, placing it until the tank is supported on the nuts attached to it. To install, lift up the tank and fit the nuts which hold it in place and take off jack. Hook up the fuel lines and evaporative hoses making sure that they are forced over the fittings at least 1 inch ( 25mm ) and then the breather hose. Install the fuel filler hose and make sure it is inserted firmly on the fuel tank pipe and filler pipe of at least 1.4 inch (35mm) and then fit the electrical connector to the sending unit or sending unit/fuel pump assembly. Install the drain plug, lower the vehicle, fill the fuel tank, and fit the filler cap, and when the vehicle is good, ensure no leakage and then start the engine. In the case of the MPV, the procedure is the same but it starts by depressurizing the fuel system as well as separating the negative battery cable and then removing the fuel filler top and then propping up the vehicle. Pour out fuel tank, discharge electrical connector of fuel pump and unscrew fuel lines, evaporative hose, breather hose, and fuel filler hose. Jack up the tank, strip away the retaining bolts and straps and drop the tank. Installation To install, put the tank in place, fix the straps and retaining bolts and tighten them to 32-44 ft. lbs. (43-61Nm) and then remove the jack. Install the fuel lines and evaporative hoses, making sure to push them onto the fittings at least 1 inch (25mm), the breather hose and fuel filler hose, pushing them on the fuel tank pipe and filler pipe at least 1.4 inch (35mm). Install the fuel pump electrical connector, the drain plug, lower the vehicle, refuel the tank, install the filler cap, and check it with regards to leaks before starting the engine. To the Navajo, disconnect the negative battery cable, relieve the fuel system pressure and lift the vehicle and support it. Find a way to empty the tank, take the shield, skid plate and front strap off, ultimately the tank is held up using a jack, the bolt that joins the rear strap is also removed. Unscrew the filler pipe, vent pipe, vapor hose, fuel lines, and electrical connector and then disassemble the tank. To install, position the tank and plug the electrical connector, fuel lines and vapor hose, then the filler pipe, vent pipe and add the rear strap. Install the shield, skid plate and front strap, take out the jack, lower the vehicle, fill out the fuel tank, check on leaks, and reconnect the negative battery cable.
