Removal and installation of components to the 2.2L engine require first disconnection of the negative battery, then, a cooling fan and shroud, drive belts, cooling fan pulley, and bracket. Removing the secondary air pipe assembly is recommended in case the engine is carbureted. Then, unbolt the crankshaft pulley and take off the upper and lower timing belt cover with the process being the opposite of the former. In the case of the 3.0L engine, the first step is to disconnect the negative battery cable and empty the cooling system and engine coolant. Take out the air cleaner duct assembly, cooling fan, radiator shroud, accessory drive and A/C compressor idler pulley, crankshaft pulley, coolant bypass, and upper radiator hoses also remove the timing belt covers. Installation: Firstly, the timing belt covers and cover gaskets, and the fasteners should be tightened to 70-95 inch lbs. (8-11Nm). Next, fit the coolant bypass and upper radiator hoses, and tighten the hose clamps. Install the crankshaft pulley, A/C compressor idler pulley and accessory drive belt, then the cooling fan and radiator shroud and the last one is the air cleaner duct assembly. Fill and bleed the cooling system, re-attach negative battery cable and start the engine to test leakages, correct functioning, idle speed, and ignition timing.
