The ignition lock is removed by first of all disconnecting the negative battery cable and disarming the air bag system in case it is present. In the case of the Millenia model, the rear console box, brake boot, center panel, rear console, undercover, glove compartment, upper and lower steering column covers must be removed. Click the steering shaft down and take off the cap and panel light control switch and pull the meter hood in order to unlock the clips. The next step is to remove the instrument cluster, drivers side air bag, steering wheel, the combination switch and passenger side air bag module. Take out the hood panel release lever, side panel, the side covers and dashboard. Once the steering shaft has been removed, cut a groove in the heads of the steering lock mounting bolts and also remove them together with the steering lock assembly. To install, insert a steering lock mechanism to the steering column jacket, and make sure that it functions, attaching new mounting bolts and reconnecting the ignition switch. Change dashboard and all connectors, fit the side covers and panels, and reconnect steering shaft. Lastly, the passenger side air bag module, combination switch, steering wheel and driver side air bag module, then the instrument cluster, meter hood and other parts can be connected. Depending on the model, the procedure starts the same way, which is by removing the negative battery cable and air bags in case the vehicle has them. Once the steering wheel and the combination switch are taken off, unfasten the steering column by taking off under dash covers, disconnected the key interlock cable and electric connector. Take out the steering column and the mounting bolts required in the vehicle. Before extracting a lock assembly of the ignition, secure the steering column on a work bench, drill holes on lock screws and extract them out. Installation To install, install the ignition lock and bracket, screws, twist off the heads to ensure the lock works, and then repeat the steps followed to take it off to install, and vice versa.
