How often should the door hinge and door lock be lubricated on Mazda MPV?

The hinges and the latch assemblies on the doors, hood, and liftgate must be well sprayed with a couple of drops of light oil or lock lubricant once in every 3,000 miles or in every three months or so. The door latch strikers can also be functionalized with grease in order to reduce wear and enhance a smooth operation. Spray-on graphite lubricant should be applied on the door and liftgate locks.

How to access and remove the door lock and ignition lock cylinder mechanisms on Mazda MPV?

The door mechanisms are accessed by lifting up the door trim and plastic shield of the front door, rear door or liftgate. Then remove the operating rods by pushing the clips off and spinning them out of the door and take out the three holding screws that are at the end of the door then remove the latch assembly. To be installed, the steps are reversed. To handle lock cylinder, unscrew the outside door handle, separate the lock cylinder with the handle assembly and repeat the procedure to install. In case the model has electric door locks, then seal the switch harness to the actuator to avoid contact with the door glass. In the case of the inside handle, loosen the operating rod connection and pull off the retaining screws and then lift the handle out of the door and vice versa to install. To remove the outside handle, remove the Operating rods, remove the 2 retaining nuts and pick the handle off the door after which the procedure is reversed.
