On models with a mechanically controlled blower motor, the resistor of the blower motor is mounted on the blower motor housing before 2006. It is best to start with the ignition key being switched to OFF. Either take out the trim panel underneath the glove box and unplug the electrical connector of the blower motor resistor. Verify the continuity of the resistor side of the connector: In earlier models Continuity must be present between terminals 1A and 2A, 1A and 2B, 1A and 2C and 1A and 20. In models between the year 1997 and 2005, there should be continuity between terminals 1A-1B and 3A-3B, and also no continuity between the terminals 2A-2B, 2B-2C, and 2C-20. In case the continuity is not in these specifications, change the resistor. In order to replace it, it is necessary to take out the old resistor and fit a new one to the blower motor housing and re-connect the electrical connector. By this time, the engine will be started and the blower motor turned on and its proper operation checked at all speeds before replacing the lower trim panel below the glove box.
