For 1997 and earlier models, begin by raising the headlights, applying the parking brake, and securely supporting the vehicle on jackstands. Disconnect the negative battery terminal cable and any wiring that may obstruct bumper removal. Remove the undercover splash shield, open the
Hood, and take out the screws from both side marker lights before removing the lights. Next, take off the upper radiator shroud, set plate, and upper retainer, followed by the lower bolts securing the front fascia to the bumper reinforcement. Inside the air intake opening, remove the fascia screws and license plate bracket, then under each side of the vehicle, remove the support strap, set plate, and two mounting nuts. Detach the fascia-to-fender bolt on each side and remove the front fascia from the vehicle. After that, remove the bumper reinforcement bolts and lower the bumper away from the vehicle, with installation being the reverse of removal. For the rear bumper, remove the rear side marker lights, the splash shield from the rear of each wheel well, and the bumper mounting nuts before taking the bumper off. The installation follows the same reverse procedure. For models from 1999 to 2005, open the hood and remove the two bolts along the upper trailing edge of the bumper, then in each wheel well, remove the two bolts at the upper rear corner of the bumper. Underneath, remove the six bolts along the lower trailing edge, then take off the bumper assembly. If disassembling for repairs, detach the license plate holder and remove the five bolts securing the air dam skirt to the bumper before removing the skirt. The installation is the reverse of removal. For the rear bumper, remove the license plate light and rear taillight assemblies, then take out the two bolts from the rear part of the bumper and the bolt in each wheel well at the upper forward corner. Remove the five bolts along the rear outer edge of the wheel well, then the two bolts located just behind the wheel well, and the two clips on each inner side of the bumper before removing the bumper. Installation is again the reverse of removal. For 2006 and later models, open the hood and remove the eight fasteners securing the upper trailing edge of the bumper, then detach the front bumper from the engine under covers. Remove the front wheels and detach the front wheel well splash shields as necessary to access the bumper fasteners. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the sidemarker lights and fog lights if equipped, then remove the trim covers from the grille and the two bumper fasteners located in the grille area before removing the front bumper assembly. Installation is the reverse of removal. For the rear bumper, remove the fasteners securing the upper part of the bumper, the license plate, and the other screws securing the upper part. Remove the rear taillights, then the rear wheels, and detach the back part of each rear wheel well splash shield as necessary to access the lower bumper fasteners. Remove the lower bumper fasteners from the upper end of each corner of the bumper, and disengage the bumper from the bumper sliders with assistance. When installing, spread the ends of the bumper apart, lift it into position, and press it against the bumper sliders to engage them, with installation otherwise being the reverse of removal.
