The
Fuel Pump assembly that is in the
Fuel Tank also incorporates the fuel level sending unit. In order to test the unit, first of all take out the fuel pump assembly of the tank. When the tank is empty the arm must be in the up position in case of a full tank. In the case of models that were produced in 1997 and below, the resistance must vary gradually between about 110 ohms and 2 to 4 ohms. In models between 1999 and 2005, the resistance would be between 93-97 ohms and 6.5-7.5 ohms. In the case of models after the year 2006, resistance between terminals A and C of the connector is measured and will vary between 200-205 ohms and 9-11 ohms with the values being approximate. In the event of invalid outcomes in the readings, the sending unit must be changed. To do so, drain the tank of fuel, pull the fuel pump assembly out, pull the electrical plug out of the fuel level sending unit and on models produced as early as 2005, unscrew the nuts holding the sending unit to the bracket and detach the sending unit. Installation is in the opposite of the sequence of removal.
