How to check and replace the horn on Mazda MX-5 Miata?

In order to inspect the horn, disconnect the electrical connector that is found on the hood Latch. Next, check the horn by connecting battery voltage to the two horn terminals by using jumper wires between the battery and the horn. When the horn does not ring, then the horn must be changed, when it rings, then the problem could be with the steering wheel horn switch, the horn relay or the wiring between components. On models prior to 2005, the replacement is performed by disconnecting the electrical connector and removing the bolt to the bracket, and then reversing the procedure. In 2006 and subsequent models, lift the front of the car and place it on jackstands, lift the front engine compartment under cover, disconnect the electrical connector to the horn, and take out the horn mounting nut in order to remove the horn, and vice versa.
