How to remove and install the Suspension Strut Rod on Mazda MX-5 Miata?

For the 1999 to 2005 models, start by removing each end's nut and through-bolt from the Suspension Strut Rod. Then, take out the Suspension Strut Rod. In the event of trouble removing the mounting bolts, they may be under excessive tension; loosen the two turnbuckle locknuts and back off the turnbuckle adjustment nut in the middle of the Suspension Strut Rod, but do not touch anything unless absolutely necessary. The Suspension Strut Rod is preset. When replacing front shock absorbers, unbolt the strut mounting brackets from the top of the shock towers and remove them. During mounting, in case you had taken away the brackets, then place back the brackets and then install the mounting nuts without tightening them. Proceed to mount the Suspension Strut Rod and tighten the through bolts/nuts to specification, then tighten the nuts for the bracket. If the turnbuckle was loosened, install the Suspension Strut Rod to the brackets with the through-bolts and nuts without fully tightening them, then snug the turnbuckle nut and securely tighten the locknuts before finally tightening the through-bolts to torque. For the models produced from 2006 and beyond, removal of the center joint's nuts from either end of the Suspension Strut Rod can initiate the process. Subsequently, the center joint can be taken out. Next, take out the left Suspension Strut Rod and its three mounting nuts. Then, remove the right Suspension Strut Rod and its three mounting nuts. If you are changing the front shock absorbers, unscrew and remove the nuts from the Suspension Strut Rod mounting plates. Reinstallation is done in reverse order like disassembly and all bolts torqued to specification.
