In 2005 and older, in order to reach the trunk lid latch, one will have to remove the trunk striker assembly, open the trunk and remove the trim panel, then mark around it with a line to act as a guide. Unscrew the retaining bolts and take off the latch and connect the trunk release cable. Unbolt the striker of the trunk lid, if need be. Installation is in the opposite sequence. To open the trunk lock cylinder, open the trunk and then take off the trim panel, loosen the retaining clip on the actuator rod with a pry tool and then loosen it out of the lock cylinder. Installation Take out the lock cylinder by removing the retaining bolts and installing it in reverse. In 2006 and subsequent models, pull out the trunk trim about the latch, disengage the actuator rod out of the key lock cylinder, pull off the electrical connectors, and take off the latch mounting bolts. Installation is the opposite of removal and it is necessary to make sure that the striker fits into the latch properly and this ensures that adjustments are made when necessary. In case of striker adjustment, strip the striker, loosen the bolts and place the striker such that it fits in the latch after which the bolts should be tightened. Repeat and lock the latch bolts then reattach the trunk trim. In the case of the key lock cylinder, the procedure involves removing the trim surrounding the cylinder, de-attaching the actuator rod, de-connecting the electrical lead and removing the mounting nuts so as to take out the cylinder, and the process of putting the cylinder in is the opposite.
