In 2005 and earlier models, first of all, take out the door trim panel and the plastic watershield. The location of the latch is marked by reaching inside the door and detaching the control links with the latch and the latch is then removed by unscrewing the retaining screws on the end of the door. Unzip the door latch and reinsert to properly align the latch by following the steps used to remove it, and screws tightened firmly. In the case of the outside handle, enter the inside of the door to loosen the retention nuts, lift up the retaining clip and rip off the control rod off the lock cylinder and then pull the handle and lock cylinder out. The process of reinstallation is in reverse. In the case of the inside handle, the procedure of removal and installation is as follows. In 2006 and subsequent models, a starting point is to take out the door trim panel, door speaker, then unscrew the electrical connectors to the power mirror, door lock actuator, and power window motor, and then unscrew all the fasteners to remove the door unit. The opposite of removal is reinstallation. Then, take off the door trim panel and door unit, un-screw the cables of the inside door handle and door lock knob, the rods of the key lock cylinder and outside door handle and then pull off the door latch and lock actuator by undoing the screws holding them. The process of reinstallation is once again the opposite of the removal. In the case of the outside door handle, first take off the door trim panel and door unit but then disconnect the rod on the handle and remove the retaining bolt that is under the trim panel. Hold the back of the handle and take it out as you unscrew the locking tab, and put it back in, inserting the locking tab through the mounting hole, pushing the handle towards the door, and matching up the holes in the bolts, then screw the retaining bolt in. The remaining installation is the opposite. In the case of the key lock cylinder, remove the door trim panel, door unit, door window glass, outside door handle, and disconnect the rod with the cylinder and then rotate it to make the tab fit in the notch of the door and drag it out. Installation requires matching the tab with the notch, loading the cylinder, rotating clockwise and finalizing the installation process by reversing the unloading process.
